Digiton: an agency site whose portfolio files itself

Digiton is a digital agency in Morocco, and I was its CTO. The agency sells three trades: websites and apps, social media management, and video production. The redesign gives each one its own page: Digiton Dev, Digiton Social and Digiton Studio.

An agency's service pages usually carry a hand-picked row of work, and that row is out of date as soon as the next project ships. Here no page picks its projects. Every project is filed against the service it came from, and each page lists its own, so a project published once in the back office appears on the right page, and in the homepage slider if it is featured.

The site also had pieces that only half worked. The back office had an article editor, but no public page displayed articles, so they could be written and never read. Contact requests went to an address written into the code, so changing the inbox meant a deploy. And the server deployed whatever reached the main branch. The redesign fixes all three: a blog, a settings page the team edits, and deploys from a production branch of their own.

One portfolio, shown on several pages

  • Three service pages (web, social media and video), each listing the projects filed under that service.

  • A homepage built from the database: featured projects in a slider, the latest case studies, the services and the three most recent articles.

  • Projects and case studies listed newest first, and the "more projects" row under a project no longer shows unpublished drafts.

New on the site

  • A blog, with the author's name, role and photo on every article.

  • A contact page of its own, instead of only a form at the bottom of other pages.

  • The about page, the process page and the digital-marketing training page redesigned to match.

  • A mobile layout designed alongside the desktop one.

The back office

  • Case studies, projects, services, articles and marketing guides edited in tabs, with the SEO fields in a tab of their own.

  • A full rich-text editor in place of the basic one, and each case study's card colours chosen in the panel instead of in code.

  • A settings page for the agency's email, phone, address and social sharing image.

  • A dashboard counting contact requests and newsletter subscribers.

Deployment

  • Deploys through GitHub Actions from a dedicated production branch.

  • The server pulls the code with a deploy key. It used to use a personal access token written into the repository URL.

My team at Digiton built the redesign. I reviewed and merged it, reworked the case study and project pages and the back office behind them, and owned the deploy.
