Narrating the Marrakesh Civilization video series
The Ihyae Foundation’s Marrakesh Civilization programme was one of the first web platforms built to carry the history of the city — its walls and palaces, its scholars, and the people around them. I was asked to narrate the video series that went with it.
The shooting was done in a properly equipped studio, which takes care of the sound and nothing else. In the days before each recording I read the script through several times until the ideas were mine to say rather than lines to read off a page — the difference is audible, and over ten episodes it is the whole thing.
The episodes I narrated
The great Marrakesh wall
The ’Ibn Yusuf’ mosque
Aghmat, the forgotten city
Masaouda Alwazgitia, the first Saadi royal bride
The El Badi palace
Ibn Ruchd the grandson
The development of philosophy and medicine
The rock castle
The Qastali initiatives
The Morabit woman
