BCLT: a French-learning platform for children

BCLT Français Kids teaches French to Moroccan children falling behind at school — 70+ grammar videos, 30+ conversation videos, over 1,000 exercises and monthly level exams, structured so a parent can follow along. I built the platform that runs it.

The adult version came first. BCLT already had a French-learning platform and a landing page for adult learners, built by Digiton before I joined, and what they wanted next was the same subject for a completely different student: children, falling behind at school, with a parent watching over their shoulder.

That is not a rebrand. A nine-year-old does not learn from a course built for an adult, so the content was adapted rather than copied, and the structure changed with it — a chapter layer between course and lesson so the material arrives in smaller pieces, and exercises held separately from exams, because a child needs far more practice than assessment. The landing page was rebuilt for the person who actually buys it, which is the parent rather than the learner.

The course structure

• Courses divided into chapters and lessons, each carrying its own exercises and questions.

• Monthly level exams built from a question bank, with every student response stored and marked.

• Per-student progress tracked across the whole structure, not just at course level.

Three portals, one application

• A student area for lessons, exercises, exams and progress.

• A commercial area for the sales side.

• An admin area covering courses, students, plans and payments.

Subscriptions and payment

• Subscription plans with payment records and downloadable PDF vouchers.

• An offline page, so a dropped connection doesn't dead-end a child mid-lesson.
